Collective Story Mapping | 2025

Researcher:Jacentea Kerlow

Collective Fragments is an interactive project that uses participatory data visualization to explore how people form identitythrough experience, values and perception. Built through workshops and one-on-one conversations, the project invites participants to reflect on pivotal life moments and consider how the meaning they assign to those moments shapes how the understand themselves and connect with others.

The work evolves as a growing, community-built artifactrather than a static outcome. Participants contribute visual “fragments” such as embossed circles, color coded traits, and symbolic marks, creating a shared map of personal narratives within the cohort. Collective Fragements captures both individual stories and collectivepatterns, revealing how self-perception, external perception, and belonging emerge through community over time.
